Volunteer recruitment memo

This is a simple memo that you can edit to send to potential volunteers at your company:

Discover Engineering <year> will be here soon. Discover Engineering is an annual event where volunteer engineers from within the community go into local schools and encourage kids to pursue math and science by providing fun, hands-on activities. We are looking for a diverse group of engineers to provide hands-on activities that demonstrate teamwork and logical processes while discussing their jobs and their enthusiasm for engineering. You can make a difference. I encourage you to volunteer to talk with area students through the Discover Engineering program.

YOUR COMPANY employees have been volunteering with Discover Engineering for HOW LONG. Through our efforts, Discover Engineering <year> was a resounding success in Central Texas, reaching over 15,000 students at 106 schools and another 8000 students through science fairs, science nights and other community events. We reach a diverse student population through all these activities.

The success of programs like Discover Engineering is really based on relationships - the relationships that you form not only with the students with whom you interact but also with the teachers and principals at the schools you visit. If you have visited a school in the past or have contacts through children, neighbors or others, please consider building on these to return to the same school again this year or open the door at new one.

At the moment, all we need to know is whether you would like to participate. As you are aware, the timing of the school visits are flexible, though most visits will take place between February and the end of the school year. If you are interested, please email CONTACT so we can send you further information as it is available. And encourage your colleagues and friends to respond positively as well.

Once again, we really appreciate your previous Discover Engineering efforts. We consider this to be a very important investment in the future, and we hope you do, too. Can we count on you?
