Thank you for presenting a very informative program at our third grade assembly. We look forward to S. M. and her team coming each year.
The presentations were interesting and age appropriate. The presentations are something that our students look forward to. They are truly motivated by learning about careers in engineering. Thank you!
The presentation was great! The kids really enjoyed the lesson and took a lot of information to heart. The vocabulary was just challenging enough where the kids could understand everything discussed, but weren't bored with simple talk. The students were engaged and absorbed the knowledge and experience both Mr. B. and Mr. G. had to offer. They both did an excellent job of promoting extensions at home with challenging the students to find out for themselves ANY questions they had. We look forward to having them visit our classroom again. Thank you so much for sharing your time with us.
Great school, great kids. For some reason they were not contacted by EWeek this year...
We love these presentations and the kids learn a great deal about the field of engineering! Excellent team!
Strong presentation skills and flexibility in presenting seemed to be the key to this visit. Even with changes, the visit seemed to go well.Suggestion: It might be a good idea to have a "separate" team leader meeting for 1st time volunteers to go over pointers that previous volunteer probably already know
I was so impressed with the presentation and the amount of effort that Adam and his assistant placed into ensuring the program was presented without a hitch. The kids were excited and full of great questions. We could not have asked for a more positive experience. Nice job!
Having the engineers come to our school is always a highlight for the children as well as the teachers. The information is always age appropriate and the speakers do a wonderful job speaking at kids level. I especially appreciate the female input (speakers) as our girls are usually far less likely to go into the field. By citing how engineers impact our everyday life the children realize that science goes well beyond recording the weather and using magnets on the refrigerator. Kudos to IBM for seeing the need to have their people come into the schools to educate us all. Go Big Blue! I hope you will continue to keep Canyon Creek as part of your partners in education.
The engineers had all the students' attention for the entire 1.5 hr class. Students were actively participating and asking numerous questions. Great job!
I thought the activity was a huge success - and gave the students exposure to different engineering disciplines. We probably could have given the class a short quiz or question and answer activity to reinforce learning, but it was still a very valuable learning experience, and the students had a great time.
Great program-Well presented.
It was a super program. My students learned a lot about motion.
Third grade group presentation S. M. and her team did an excellent job. The students loved the activities. Thank you for providing the opportunity.
Small gathering of EXITE mentors & protégées at Kealing Jr. Highschool. News Event on KXAN36. Larger venue at Kealing JR High in conjunction and/or coordinated with.
Great volunteers from IBM, 3M, TXDot & Harte-Hanks. Giveaways OK. Pencils are good at this age level but the varied colors/glitter is awful. Next year, get 1 color/style of pencil vs. too many choices. Causes chaos for volunteers.
E. S. and C. P. were knowledgeable, entertaining, and sparked interest during their visits with my students. They made two trips to Leander High School, 22 Jan and 29 Jan, to enable them to visit with all of my classes. My students enjoyed having them visit. It was a change of pace for them, and they got to see that engineers know a lot of information about fields other than their own specialty. They brought their bridge experiment and fun was had by all. I am going to request they put on a demonstration at our conference next year. I think other teachers and their students would benefit from visits by engineers who would share their experiences and knowledge with them.
D. H. from Trane was excellent. He handled the class with ease. Gave them a chance to participate. Motivated them to work hard.
The program was wonderful! All presenters did a great job in making the lesson interesting and appealing for 4th graders. The kids really enjoyed it, and so did I. We look forward to next year.
2 engineers spent the entire day in each of 3 science classrooms. We did the build a bridge 3 experiment. The students really enjoyed it.
This was a great visit and I expect a return visit in classrooms.
The teacher, D. M., ask that we provide one or more teams to demonstrate the presentations to the teachers in the Leander school district during a staff development week next year to give the elementary teachers a idea of how the program works and stir up some interest among them.
Three of my classes were visited. (9:05am Physics,10:41am Astronomy,12:21pm Physics)Only problem was that the students wanted to know how much the engineers made. Engineers were reluctant to give their specific salaries (which was understandable). It would have been nice for the students to have been given a general range of salaries for this particular type of engineering. Otherwise everything went very well. All of the presenters were very knowledgeable and connected well with my students. The activity was particularly appropriate since it dealt specifically with the topic of computers. Thanks to all the engineers who came to my classes. Great Job! I will definitely sign up again next year. Thanks D.S.
Love the hands on, pull from the audience activities!!!!
I was very impressed by the visit and thought the engineers did a great presentation. The kids really enjoyed the video and the hoop gliders experiment. Thank you for a fun and informative day!
Once again I was amazed at the enthusiasm of my students. They loved the activity and were able to explain the science behind it the day after the visit! Thanks for coming.
This is the second year that the engineers from Motorola have come out to my classroom. The students love the presentations!!! I enjoy watching the presenters as they work with my 6th graders. It's great to see so many women in the engineering field. Great job!!!!! Can't wait for them to come out again next year.
