Supplies Needed Per Team: 

  • 3 – 3x5” index cards
  • 6” of tape

Procedure: 

  1. Divide students into groups of 2-3. 
  2. Give each group 3 index cards and 6” of tape.
  3. Each team must work to build and test a structure made out of the given supplies. 
  4. The structure must hold as many books at least 6” off the surface. 

Extensions: 

Allow students to use more tape and more index cards to hold heavier books with their structure.
