Build a Potato Battery

My idea for a NET Month activity is a battery device made from a  potato or other vegetable. You may have seen those novelty digital clocks that run on a  potato. I would suggest using this same effect to power a  transistor to light an LED or do  something else. Students could explain how to manipulate the electrodes going into the  potato or other things to make the light brighter and then describe why that happens.

Thanks to David M. Kennedy in Oregon for providing this activity idea
