Can I check on my record after I have completed the entry?
- We're sorry but we can't allow public views of the database without compromising the privacy of the information provided by our volunteers. If you need to verify or change your information send a note to centexeweek@austin.rr.com. (top)
How will I know my team assignment?
- If you registered as a team leader, you will be informed of your assignment (or confirmation if you requested a specific school) in late January or early February. We will hold pick up days at our storage facility so you can get giveaways for students and teachers and t-shirts for your team members. If you registered for a community event, the event coordinator will contact you regarding your availability near the event. Other team members will either hear from a team leader after the school assignments are made or will receive broadcast e-mails of available team opportunities during the team building period which begins in late January and usually ends by April. I've never done this sort of volunteer work. What training do you provide?
- We will go over the team leader responsibilities at a meeting in January. Volunteers will have an opportunity to attend one or more sessions, usually over lunchtime, to get hands-on experience with an EWEEK activity and find out more about what to expect. (top)
How much of a commitment am I making?
- It depends on whether you are a team leader, a community event volunteer or a member of a team visiting a school. Community event volunteers are asked to spend at least two hours at a public event. They will have a specific assignment at the event and will be asked to arrive up to 30 minutes before their assigned time to learn about their task. Team member's time will vary depending on the team they join. They may do a single classroom visit for an hour or two with a brief prep meeting. They may spend a day visiting an entire grade at a school. They may do a school assembly for a couple of hours or an evening or Saturday Science Night or Science Fair. We try to let the team members select their teams so they can best plan their time best. Team leaders have some additional time requirements. They need to contact the teacher or school and determine the needs for the visit, help pull together a team and do a brief follow up evaluation. (top)
What happens if I can't fulfill my obligation?
- If you have not received an assignment, or if you are a team leader, contact texeweek@us.ibm.com If you are going to work at a community event, contact the event coordinator. Team members should let their team leader know of the change in plans. (top)
