The Central Texas Engineers Week Committee's mission is to encourage Central Texas school children to pursue technology careers by providing role models from the local engineering community. Diverse groups of engineers provide hands on experiments that demonstrate teamwork and logical processes while discussing their jobs and the reasons they chose engineering. In 2003 we expanded our program to four Community Events. We also helped recruit judges for school science fairs and helped at science nights and science fests. Our program reached more than 29,000 students in the past academic year.

Our organization consists of a year round steering committee supported by donations of cash, services and volunteer time from local businesses. Each year we select a prominent engineer to serve as honorary chair and act as our spokesperson in the community.

Our goals are to maximize attendance at  community events and reach more minority students. We also need to increase cash contributions.
